Weeks After Loss Of Matt Lauer, Today Show Drops 2nd Bombshell Concerning Other Beloved Host

Matt Lauer was a member of America’s favorite morning show for 20 years. For this reason, the TODAY family was left in a lurch when they heard that NBC was letting go of Matt Lauer.

Both fans and colleagues wondered who would replace him. Fortunately, the network has finally made a decision, and has shared the news. Their pick is perfect.
NBC officially announced that Hoda Kotb is taking over as co-anchor. She and Savannah Guthrie will co-host the program from 7 to 9 a.m. five days a week. Hoda, 53, will continue to be paired with Kathie Lee Gifford for the show’s fourth hour, which airs at 10 a.m.

It’s a milestone for the network because the pair will be the first female duo to anchor TODAY.

Savannah excitedly revealed the news to the TODAY audience:

“It’s 2018 and we are kicking off the year right because Hoda is officially the co-anchor of Today. This has to be the most popular decision NBC News have ever made, and I’m so thrilled.”

Hoda’s reaction to the promotion? She said:During Hoda’s official first day on the job, her colleagues gave her a champagne toast. Savannah said:

“I wish everybody could see how everybody’s been loving up on Hoda, giving her hugs. Everyone is so thrilled and deservedly so. It speaks to the kind of person that you are. This is a new day on TODAY and there is so much to celebrate. What a beautiful family.”
Hoda is a familiar face on the program and has been working side by side with Savannah ever since Matt was let go.

And her efforts on the show haven’t gone unnoticed. NBC News Chairman Andy Lack praised her in an email to staff:

“Over the past several weeks, Hoda has seamlessly stepped into the co-anchor role alongside Savannah, and the two have quickly hit the ground running.”img src=”https://memed.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/today.jpg” alt=”” width=”492″ height=”386″ class=”aligncenter size-full wp-image-41204″ />
He noted that the pair has great chemistry with each other, as well as the audience. He added:

“Hoda is, in a word, remarkable. She has the rare ability to share authentic and heartfelt moments in even the most difficult news circumstances. It’s a tribute to her wide range and her innate curiosity.”
The last year has been very special for Hoda. She adopted a daughter, Haley Joy, in 2017 and will soon be releasing her third book, I’ve Loved You Since Forever.

She won a Daytime Emmy Award for her work on TODAY in 2010 and famously allowed cameras to document her life as she battled, and overcame, breast cancer in 2007.

It sounds like 2018 is off to a great start for this talented host!
